I'll have to test it with saving and quitting, but so far, it's at least running!ĮDIT 2: everything works. You still get the Locale Error popup, but the game launches fine and seems to work so far. In my case, that looks like this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxis\The Sims\Sims.exe" -w -r1902x1080 The best piece of information I've found was that the blank registry key is the culprit, but I can't progress past this point.Īnyone know what I'm doing wrong? It's rare that I have to toss in the towel like this.ĮDIT: I FOUND A FIX! I'll be keeping this thread up in case anyone needs this for future bug fixing.īizarrely, The way to fix this specific error is to first use the widescreen patcher on your sims.exe, and then, put "-w -r1920x1080" at the end of the shortcut target in Right click shortcut>Properties>Shortcut. I've tried to google the answer for myself for the past several hours, but all the old forum threads I've dug up lead nowhere. I have tried doing basic troubleshooting, like going to "hkey_local+machine\software\wow6432node\maxis\the sims" in regedit and changing the unset (default) key I think is the culprit to en, gb and uk to see if that would force the game to launch itself in English, but alas, I get the same error and crash as before. It really looks like a cheap creepypasta like this, doesn't it? The Sims splash screen is pure black, and it always crashes at the same spot when the text "fabricating imaginary infrastructure" scrolls by the screen. Find the log file that looks like the one above. It will just say The Sims 2 only instead of The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection. NOTE: If you don’t have the UC, the path will be the same. After I dismiss this popup, the game "launches", but not quite. Open up your Documents folder and navigate to the following path: Documents > EA Games > The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection > Logs. I get a pop-up called "Locale Error - Set Locale Returned NULL". I've installed the game (and the installer worked perfectly!!) in Windows XP compatibility mode, and I run the Sims.exe file under compatibility mode too, but the boot just isn't right.

THE SIMS 1 COMPLETE COLLECTION WINDOWS 10 INSTALL INSTALL
So, I was getting in a nostalgic mood and wanted to install Sims Complete Collection on my laptop to replay some childhood memories, but there's one error that constantly kicks me in the plums and prevents me from launching the game.
